On the Edit Asset page, you can review and update an asset’s information to accurately reflect the details of the vehicle.
Reviewing and updating an asset's information before creating a case for it is essential to having an accurate case and avoiding delays in the repair process.
To open the Edit Asset page for a specific asset, search for it from the Search screen and click Edit Asset under the ACTIONS column.
The Edit Asset page is split into several sections:
- Basic Asset Information
This is the first group of fields that displays. It includes basic information such as Make, Year, Model, and Asset Location as well as maintenance numbers such as Mileage and Engine Hours. - Additional Asset Type Information
This includes information related to the configuration and weight of the asset. - Fleet Asset Information
This includes information required for fleet assets. - Extended Properties
This includes more detailed information related to the parts of the asset.
If the asset is a fleet asset, some of the information may be greyed out because it cannot be changed.
You can update any of the other information at any time by entering a new value or selecting a new option, then clicking SAVE ASSET at the bottom.

Basic Asset Information
This is the first group of fields that displays. It includes basic information such as Make, Year, Model, and Asset Location as well as maintenance numbers such as Mileage and Engine Hours.
Asset Type
Asset Type refers to the general type of vehicle.
- Options include Tractor, Truck, Semi-Trailer, Bus, etc.
- This information is helpful for categorization and building reports.
NOTE: If the asset is part of a fleet, and the Asset Type is already populated, it’ll be greyed out, because you can’t change it. To request an update, click CONTACT FLEET at the top of the page to send an email to the fleet.
Make/Year/Model/Engine
The Make, Year, Model, and Engine fields have red asterisks and are required.
When updating the Make/Year/Model/Engine fields, start with the Make.
- When you select a Make, the dropdown options for Year populate.
- Select the Year to populate the dropdown options for Model.
- And finally select a Model to populate the dropdown options for Engine.
NOTE: If the asset is part of a fleet, and the Make/Year/Model/Engine fields are already populated, they’ll be greyed out, because you can’t change them. To request an update, click CONTACT FLEET at the top of the page to send an email to the fleet.
Display Information
By default, the options you select for Make/Year/Model/Engine will display on the All Cases screen and anywhere else that information is listed for the asset.
To display a different value instead of the options you select, you can enter a new value in the Display … fields.
For example, if you select a Make, but want the abbreviated version of the Make to appear, you can enter the abbreviated version in the Display Make field and click SAVE CHANGES. The Make field will now show the Display Make value.
Unknown Information
If the option you need isn’t available, select UNKNOWN, and then use the related Display … field to manually enter any information you have.

Unit Number
The unit number is the alphanumeric number assigned to the asset. It’s helpful for searching and distinguishing between similar assets.
NOTE: If the asset is part of a fleet, and the Unit Number is already populated, it’ll be greyed out, because you can’t change it. To request an update, click CONTACT FLEET at the top of the page to send an email to the fleet.
Mileage
The Mileage is a manually entered number that tells you how far the asset has driven.
By default, Mileage is measured in miles. If the odometer uses kilometers, you can select Kilometers in the dropdown to the right, and enter the number of kilometers instead.
To see all the previous values for Mileage, click the ___ icon.
Engine Hours
The Engine Hours is a manually entered number that tells you how many hours the engine has been on versus off.
To see all the previous values for Engine Hours, click the ___ icon.
Fuel Consumed
The Fuel Consumed is a manually entered number that tells you how much fuel that asset has used.
By default, Fuel Consumed is measured in gallons. If the gas tank uses liters, you can select Liters in the dropdown to the right, and enter the number of liters instead.
To see all the previous values for Fuel Consumed, click the ___ icon.
Asset Location
The Asset Location is the main physical address in which the asset resides when not in use.
You can enter any or all of the information you know for Street Address, City, State, Postal Code, and Country.
Pricing Sources
The Pricing Source determines how an asset is valued.
Group Pricing Source
A Group Pricing Source refers to pricing sources that are already established in the system and is usually set to “DEFAULT”.
My Pricing Source
A My Pricing Source allows you to select a pricing source custom to your service location.
Warranty Type
The Warranty Type allows you to select whether an asset is “Under Warranty” or“Not Under Warranty”.
Telematics
The Telematics information is for assets that use telematics to monitor the asset using GPS and onboard diagnostics.
The Telematics Provider options include Caretrack, Peoplenet, Fleetwatcher, Teletrac, Geotab, Telogis, Voyager, and Inthinc.
Shop Notes
The information you enter for Shop Notes displays in the Asset Shop Notes section of the Editing Case page when the asset is part of a case.
Additional Asset Type Information
This section includes information related to the configuration and weight of the asset, including:
- Asset Class
- Axle Configuration
- Power Source
- Body Configuration
- Trailer/Container Configuration
- Asset Description
- Gross Weight
To see all the previous values for a specific Additional Asset Type Information field, click the ___ icon next to the field.
Gross Weight
The Gross Weight is a manually entered number that tells you the total weight of the asset including freight, fuel, trailers, etc.
By default, Gross Weight is measured in pounds. If the asset was measured in kilograms, you can select Kilograms in the dropdown to the right, and enter the number of kilograms instead.
Fleet Asset Information
This includes information required for fleet assets.
The Fleet Asset Information section allows users to input other asset information such as:
- Fleet-In Service Date
- Cost Center
- USDOT
- License Plate
- License Plate State
- License Plate Country
- License Plate Expiration
- Asset Status
To see all the previous values for a specific Fleet Asset Information field, click the ___ icon next to the field.
Extended Properties
This includes more detailed information related to the parts of the asset, including:
- Body/Cab
- Engine
- Exhaust
- Fifth Wheel
- Fleet
- Front/Front of Rear Wheels and Axles
- Fuel, Vehicle Weight, and Horsepower
- In-Service Date
- Interior/Exterior Color Description
- Model Series, Year and Order Number
- Rear Axle/Rear Wheel
- Region/Location
- Suspension
- Transmission
- Vehicle
